As the doors of Machshavah School open this September, we are not just welcoming a new academic year—we are also celebrating the start of the Sulamot programme! This marks an exciting moment for the students, staff, and the entire Machshavah School community, as part of the esteemed Migdal Ohr network.

Today marks 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 which holds special significance for Migdal Ohr, as we’re dedicated to supporting 12,000 children and displaced families in Israel.

Our team and students at the Zoharim Youth Village are hard at work harvesting, marking an exciting milestone in our collaboration with Dalton & the Youth Village. Together, we’re cultivating both crops and bright futures!

The first day of school is always special, but today at Migdal Ohr, it feels extraordinary! As we open the doors to a new school year, the air is buzzing with excitement and the promise of endless possibilities. Our classrooms are now alive with the sounds of eager students ready to embark on a journey of learning and discovery.

It’s a new week and that means new life. Students woke up to birds hatching in the Migdal Ohr aviary this morning and watched their mother bird feeding them with absolute delight.

In Hebrew, we often wish parents “Harbeh Nachat,” meaning “a lot of pride!” This sentiment is especially fitting as we celebrate the incredible achievements of the boys and girls graduating from Migdal Ohr’s Machshava School.

The girls from Orot Be’emek and Afikei Ohr spent hours enjoying the freedom of the sea, playing on inflatables and swimming without a care in the world. They also shared the delight of learning to roll their own sushi, creating and then savouring their delicious masterpieces together. It was a beautiful bonding experience, filled with laughter, creativity, and connection.

With summer in full swing, the Kineret “zula” they have been building up to is finally here! The alum crew organising it raised their funds, met with social workers, participated in team-building activities, and celebrated Shabbat together beforehand at Zoharim.

In a heartfelt gesture of remembrance and solidarity, the Ohr Yisraeli youth club recently visited Kibbutz Zikim, located on the border of Gaza, to organise a special dinner in memory of those who lost their lives on October 7th.

The transformative power of animal therapy at Migdal Ohr cannot be overstated. It is a vital part of our mission to create safe spaces where children can heal, grow, and rediscover hope. The bonds formed with animals provide emotional healing, build trust, reduce anxiety, increase self-esteem, and foster social skills. Through the stories of children like Avi and Leah, we see the profound impact of this program.
