At Pninat Ohr School, our students continually engage in experiential learning that blends education, values, and hands-on activities. A perfect example of this is the petting and care area, where students not only tend to animals but also develop responsibility, empathy, and practical skills.

Caring for animals offers profound educational and emotional benefits. It nurtures a sense of capability, promotes emotional balance, and fosters teamwork and perseverance. Additionally, students have the freedom to choose their specific tasks, encouraging independent decision-making and the development of essential life skills.

The petting and care activity has garnered immense interest, with many students eager to participate. To accommodate this enthusiasm, the school is working hard to expand the programme, ensuring that more students can benefit from this meaningful experience.

One inspiring story from the programme highlights the school’s commitment to creativity and sustainability. At the beginning of the activity, one student, Dalia, chose not to care for the animals directly but instead decided to build a new home for the rabbits. Using a recycled wooden raft, she embraced the school’s core values of recycling and sustainability, learning how to prepare wooden planks for safe and hazard-free construction.

During her first session, she was entirely focused on building. However, a few weeks later, we witnessed her remarkable transformation. From initially focusing solely on construction, she gradually began interacting with the animals – petting them, cleaning their water bowls, refilling them, and ensuring their wellbeing. This shift demonstrated not only her personal growth but also the impact of hands-on, value-based education.

This story is a testament to the dedication of the Migdal Ohr institutions in fostering experiential learning, personal development, and creative thinking. By combining practical skills with emotional and ethical growth, Pninat Ohr continues to shape young minds, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive. We look forward to seeing how this initiative continues to evolve and inspire students for years to come.
