A Year Since October 7th: Honouring the Past, Building the Future

It is hard to believe that a year has passed since the horrific events of October 7th. The pain and devastation from that day still resonate deeply within Israel and Jewish communities around the world. Our thoughts remain with the families who have lost loved ones, the brave soldiers defending Israel, and the hostages still missing, whose families wait in hope and anguish for their return.
In the wake of this tragedy, Migdal Ohr immediately stepped up to provide critical relief and support. As Israel’s largest welfare charity, our mission to care for the most vulnerable has never been more urgent. We’ve been working tirelessly to support displaced families, offering food, shelter, education, and emotional care to those who have lost everything.
Perhaps the most heartbreaking impact of this war has been the growing number of orphans – over 800 children who have lost their parents and their sense of security. In response, we launched the Orphans’ Plan For Life programme, providing a comprehensive support system accompanying each orphan through childhood into adulthood. This programme ensures these children receive the care, resources, and emotional support they need to rebuild their lives.
Thanks to your generous donations, we’ve been able to respond swiftly and effectively. Each contribution provides immediate relief and offers the promise of a brighter future. The support from Migdal Ohr UK’s donors over the past year has been extraordinary, and we are profoundly grateful. Together, we are comforting those in their darkest moments and helping to build Israel’s future strength and resilience.
As we continue to stand united, we hold onto hope and pray for peace. May we soon see a time when peace reigns over Israel. Until then, Migdal Ohr remains committed to being a beacon of hope for those who need it most. Together, we are making a difference. Together, we are building the future.
