On Monday, 31st March, a moving and inspiring fundraising evening took place at the home of Tal and Avner Kopel, bringing together community members, business leaders, and friends in support of the children of Migdal Ohr. The event was held in close partnership with Migdal Ohr.
The guest of honour is Rabbi Yitzchak David Grossman, Israel Prize laureate and founder of Migdal Ohr, whose life mission for the past 50 years has been to uplift, support, and empower children and youth at risk across Israel.
Rabbi Grossman has devoted his life to building a better future for disadvantaged children. Over five decades, he established dozens of educational institutions and support frameworks that provide children with high-quality education, strong values, and the tools they need to reach their full potential. His life’s work has rescued thousands of children and youth, guiding them from hardship to a path of stability, contribution, and dignity. Over the years, his activities have expanded into additional areas of welfare and humanitarian aid, with a steadfast commitment to helping every person in need.
The event was held against the backdrop of a sobering poverty report released last week, which revealed that more than 872,000 children in Israel are currently living below the poverty line. These alarming statistics underscore the vital importance of Migdal Ohr’s mission — to provide every child with the love, education, and support they deserve.
In his address, Rabbi Grossman described the urgent work ahead of the upcoming Passover holiday, including the “LeChag Sova” initiative, which distributes thousands of food packages to needy families across Israel. “Our goal is to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry on Seder night,” said Rabbi Grossman. “We are mobilizing a large-scale effort to bring food, dignity, and hope into the homes that need it most.”
The evening included musical performances, heartfelt testimonials, and messages of appreciation to the hosts and generous donors. It concluded with an impressive outpouring of support and contributions, which will go directly toward expanding Migdal Ohr’s life-changing programmes.
Amit Fraser, CEO of Migdal Ohr Europe, shared her heartfelt reflections on the evening: “It was an evening full of generosity and unity, with a deep sense of shared mission — to rescue and uplift the children of Migdal Ohr. Together, we are building a future of hope and opportunity for Israel’s most vulnerable.”
