In a heartfelt gesture of remembrance and solidarity, the Ohr Yisraeli youth club recently visited Kibbutz Zikim, located on the border of Gaza, to organise a special dinner in memory of those who lost their lives on October 7th.
With summer in full swing, the Kineret “zula” they have been building up to is finally here! The alum crew organising it raised their funds, met with social workers, participated in team-building activities, and celebrated Shabbat together beforehand at Zoharim.
About Ohr Yisraeli
Ohr Yisraeli is an Israeli youth movement founded to empower the younger generation with essential tools and methods, both social and ideological. The movement instils values such as politeness, respect for parents, respect for one’s fellow man, a willingness to contribute, and a deep love for Israel. These values are the core of Ohr Yisraeli, shaping the character and future of its members.
The special dinner brought together members of the Kibbutz Zikim community and the youth of Ohr Yisraeli to honour the memory of those who tragically lost their lives. The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches, moments of silence, and a shared meal symbolising unity and resilience. The youth members expressed their commitment to carrying forward the values of compassion, respect, and love for Israel, which are at the heart of the Ohr Yisraeli movement.
A message from our students:
“The visit to Kibbutz Zikim and the special dinner were powerful reminders of the Israeli people’s strength and unity. By coming together to remember and honour the fallen, the youth of Ohr Yisraeli demonstrated their dedication to the values that bind us together as a nation.”
Let us support and uplift each other, ensuring that the memories of those we have lost live on through our actions and commitments to a better future.
