Investing in the Future: My Visit to Migdal Ohr Israel
Last week, I had the privilege of visiting Migdal Ohr Israel to see firsthand how our investment in the children’s future is transforming lives. Each visit reminds me why our mission is so important — and this one was especially inspiring.
My first stop was at Cooking Up the Future, where I joined the girls in their culinary training programme. Together, we cooked, shared stories, and discussed their ambitions and challenges. Their confidence, creativity, and determination to build meaningful careers in the culinary world filled me with pride. Listening to them talk about their progress and hopes for the future reminded me just how powerful opportunity can be when it’s nurtured with care.
I then visited the Machshava School, spending time with our bright and curious Year 1 and Year 2 children. Sitting with them, learning about their interests, and hearing about their progress was an absolute joy. Their energy and enthusiasm for learning are contagious, and it was a beautiful reminder of what can be achieved when children are given love, support, and a sense of belonging.
My visit concluded at Sulamot, Migdal Ohr’s exceptional music programme in partnership with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Here, some of Israel’s most talented conductors and teachers guide our children with professionalism, patience, and kindness. Listening to the students play and share their experiences was genuinely moving. Many of them spoke about their dreams and the challenges they face, particularly the lack of instruments and resources.
I assured them that we hear their needs and that we are committed to doing more. Our supporters and kind donors are determined to invest further so that every child in the Sulamot programme, and across Migdal Ohr, has what they need to develop, flourish, and dream big.
Every visit deepens my appreciation for the incredible work being done here and for the generous community that makes it all possible. Together, we are not only providing opportunities but shaping futures full of hope, talent, and promise
