Greatest accomplishments of 2022

Although we are always looking forward, it is essential to look back and reflect on all that we have accomplished in the past. At the forefront of our minds should be the countless children in need who we have been able to help throughout the year. It has been an incredible year of giving back and making a difference in the lives of them.

Despite the ongoing challenges, it has been incredibly rewarding to work alongside our partners and incredible supporters to make a tangible difference for our children. Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to make them smile nor make their future brighter. We can’t thank you enough for your help, donations and volunteering throughout the year.

We would like to highlight the most outstanding moments and greatest achievements of the past year and so far.

The construction of the new dormitories has been completed and they are now fully occupied. In this project, we nurture twelve children and teenagers at the same time so that they flourish and reach their maximum potential. The uniqueness of this programme is that the care-givers live together with all twelve children and young adults, rather than placing them in a boarding school.

The renovations of one of the boarding school’s building has been completed. The Afikei Ohr Youth Village is an extraordinary project in Israel providing a comprehensive and systematic response to the consistent increase in the number of teenage girls who have dropped out from the ultra-Orthodox community for various reasons and are living in risky conditions alienated from and excluded by their families and community. This residential school for 120 girls provides them with a warm second home and educational framework in which all their needs are met.

The construction of dormitories for buildings A and B has been completed and they are fully occupied. The interiors of buildings C and D, as well as 3 new youth clubs, are in progress. The Zoharim Youth Village provides a safe home and stable environment for at-risk Orthodox boys who dropped out of the Orthodox educational system and were abandoned by their family and community. Students at the Zoharim Youth Village receive education, a warm environment and emotional support, and they learn practical professions such as carpentry, agriculture and therapeutic horseback riding.
