A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words at Shalhevet School
At Shalhevet School, a new creative programme is giving girls at risk a powerful way to tell their stories: photography.
More than just capturing images, the girls are learning the language of photography – how to use a lens to express their thoughts, feelings, and inner worlds. Each photo becomes a voice, allowing them to share experiences that may otherwise remain unspoken.
Through this programme, the girls are encouraged to explore photography as a form of experiential, emotional, and social expression. The camera becomes a tool for honesty and openness, enabling them to shine a light on the issues they care deeply about, the challenges they face, and the dreams they hold close.
At Shalhevet, every picture tells a story – sometimes one of resilience, sometimes one of hope, and always one that matters.
This initiative is just one more way that Migdal Ohr empowers girls to express themselves, both verbally and visually, helping them build confidence, creativity, and connection. By nurturing their voices – whether through words or images – we are helping them discover the strength to share who they are with the world.
