At Machshavah School, silence spoke volumes.
As we marked Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day – our school community came together in a powerful tribute to the six million Jews who perished during the Holocaust. The atmosphere throughout the day was one of solemn reflection, deep emotion, and collective remembrance.
The ceremony, led by our students, was profoundly moving. Through poignant readings, touching songs, and the lighting of memorial candles, they honoured the memory of those lost with sincerity and reverence. One of the most impactful moments came as students shared the words and stories of Holocaust survivors – some read aloud, others passed down from family or school resources – ensuring that these voices continue to be heard.
What stood out most was the empathy and maturity with which our students approached this day. Their quiet strength and heartfelt participation reminded us that the responsibility of remembrance belongs not only to those who lived through history but also to those who learn it, carry it, and pass it on.
Yom HaShoah at Machshavah School was not only a memorial; it was a moment of unity and purpose. Together, we affirmed our commitment to memory, to truth, and to standing against hatred in all its forms.
We will never forget. And through our children, we will always remember.
